DEVORE

As part of my brief I needed to include surface textile techniques which we learnt throughout the project in my final garments. I decided to use Devore on cream velvet for my dress.
Devore is a process that can be used only on fabrics with synthetic and natural fibers. I applied the image on to the velvet using a silkscreen and devore paste, I then put the fabric in the heat press, which eats away at the natural fibers leaving only the synthetic. Here is a sample of the fabric that I used on my final piece…

Alongside my dress, I'm making a chiffon cape. I have decided to use Gold foil printing. The image is applied the same way using a silkscreen and foil adhesive paste. The foil is placed on top of the fabric and put in the heat press, then the foil is peeled away leaving the gold where the adhesive was.

  2. Love your background too, and the way you've written your 'about me' piece - really sums up your style well. Would like to see pictures of your design, you've written about the processes you're using so would be nice to see how you're using them.

  10. Really like your print on your garment and your style, it reminds me of the 1920's, 1930's kind of atmosphere, very elegant and feminine and a very classical look. Your blog and garment is very representative of you.
